SO, you have decided you want to embellish your home with original artwork! This is wonderful!
But the prospect of finding the right piece that speaks to you and that you feel connected to can be tricky. Because, at the end of the day, this is your home, where you spend a lot of time, relaxing and having fun with your family and friends.
Hopefully my paintings hit the sweet spot, and you find something here that’s just right for you!
Hi my name is Sari and I love to paint original paintings in watercolour. I also like to make my home a happy place, surrounded by things I feel connected to and inspired by. I find drawing and painting soothing, energizing, playful and self-reflective.
My artwork is mostly of female figures, who embody beauty and strength and connect with our emotions by reminding us of love, resilience, courage, mischief, loss, dreaminess and happiness. All the characters I paint play a small story in my imagination and come to life as I paint them. These fictional characters often carry my own feelings, reflections and dreams. Other times they act out my own vices or aspirations.
Drawing and painting makes me happy and I feel peaceful and calm when I am being creative. It is my solace during trying times as well as the expression and celebration of joyful ones.
Sometimes I use very bright colours and strong lines to depict the bolder characters, other times I might use more delicate and subdued tones for the more pensive and dreamy figures. I hope my collection grows to suit many different people, and that one of my paintings might resonate with someone out there.
Once I’ve finished a piece, the original artwork is then reproduced into museum-grade quality fine art prints - also known as Giclee - on beautiful acid-free archival paper and inkjet inks, and the final prints look incredibly like the original.
Sometimes I also accept commissions. No harm in asking me what you are after and it would be great if I can help.
Please contact me if you have any questions, I would love to hear from you!
I was born in Baghdad to Italian father and Australian mother. Because of my father’s work, during my childhood years, we moved countries and lived between Iraq, Italy, Algeria, Uganda and finally settled back in Rome when I was thirteen. In Rome I studied Classical studies, Latin, Ancient Greek, Classical Literature and Mythology, which influenced later my art. When I turned nineteen I moved to Melbourne and studied Languages at Monash Uni.
I am a self-taught artist and have always enjoyed drawing. I live in Melbourne with my husband, two young children and dog.
